And as the 2008 Olympics draws near, it's hype seems to grow more influential. While Beijing has been transformed to house an Olympic city - making the latter a city within a city - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games makes serious headway into the casual gaming market. Or maybe it's just in the UK, where SEGA's joint Olympics game with Nintendo holds top spot for another week running. |

In its Nintendo 64 heyday, Turok has been known to deliver the sickest weapons imaginable. Roughly a decade later, its Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and PC reincarnation is picking up where the series left off. The video in the full article gives us a preview of the tools we'll be using soon to surgically relieve dinosaurs and mutants of their lives. Enjoy the clip you'll find after the jump! |

To say that Propaganda Games' Turok (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC) has a lot of dinosaurs seems like an understatement. Apparently, quite a number of these prehistoric creatures can be found lurking in the game's jungles. On that note, we were able to get hold of a list of the different creatures in the game and a video explaining the game mechanics behind the dinosaurs.Want to see the list and video? You'll have to check out the full article. |

Turok was previously announced for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 next gen home video game consoles."First person shooters have a rich history on the Windows PC platform and are known for having enthusiastic, dedicated fans," said Josh Holmes, Propaganda Games' vice president and general manager. "Turok will be an unforgettable experience ideal for the Windows PC platform when it becomes available in 2008." Aspyr Studios will be handling the PC port of Turok. A specific release date other than Spring 2008 has yet to be announced for the PC version of the game. The console versions are currently scheduled for release on February 8, 2008, with a demo becoming available this month. |

You can't spell Disney without family entertainment. In an interview conducted by GamesIndustry.biz, Thierry Braille, Disney's vice president, talks about how Disney wants to concentrate on total family entertainment through video games.Although Disney does not want to abandon their other, more mature markets, with Turok (PS3, Xbox 360) published under the Touchstone label and their other sports games under ESPN, Braille stresses that uniting families in a single activity can turn video games into a force for good. This would definitely put video games into a better light considering the flak they've been taking lately. Braille had this to say regarding the matter: We have titles that are for a younger audience, but there are more titles, such as High School Musical that could gather the family, after the Sunday lunch maybe, and we can imagine them singing together. This is Disney – this inclusive way to bring the family together and have fun. He also commended the efforts Nintendo platforms have been making in forcing publishers into creating games "of the highest quality" for the gaming industry. Leave it to Disney to always put things into a more wholesome and morally upright point of view. |

An entry to Voodoo Extreme's stories at IGN suggested that Crytek's Crysis "Countdown" trailer may have ripped off from Disney Interactive's Turok (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) E3 2007 trailer which debuted earlier. The big news is that it definitely had similarities, especially in the introduction. Unfortunately, the whole issue carved out a big battlefield for PC advocates and next-gen console fanboys, each one defending the game that would respectively release for their game platform of choice. It would have been an epic battle, too, if it weren't for the occasional Sony-Microsoft fit flaring up at the next-gen console side. But common sense came a-knockin' at our noggins lately and pointed out one thing - a definite brow-raiser: the whole concept of "It was supposed to be simple, but..." is a worn-out cliche, anyways. If anyone ripped off the idea from anything at all, it would be the many action, horror, survival movies that came after the absolute first (which escapes our mental grasp), and this claim holds no solid ground. But we all may agree to one thing: snack of NeoGAF Forums said, "They are different. In Turok something went wrong, but in Crysis something went terribly wrong. I don't understand how you can confuse the two." That said, this blogger rests his case. |

At the E3 Media and Business Summit 2007, Disney Interactive Studios announced their list of upcoming video games and discussed a number of its plans for the future.Disney's investments naturally include product development and talent. The studio has grown to staff 700 people in 11 countries and it has plans to put in US$ 130 million in product development for this year. Since gamers won't really be interested in the numbers, we'll go ahead and give you the list of upcoming games discussed during E3, including the announcement of a couple of sequels, a new online community, and Turok's release date. First off, Disney Interactive Studios announced an online community for the DS called DGamer. DGamer will enable gamers to chat with other gamers, create their own avatars, and trade in-game items. Gamers will be able to connect to DGamer via the DS' Wi-Fi connection, so basically players can connect to the community anywhere. Players can also connect to the community via DGamer's channel at Disney.com. The said app is currently being developed by Fall Line Studios and will be the bundled in free with all Disney titles starting May next year. The rest of the Disney titles come after the jump! |

We came across a very interesting list compiled by Gamefaqs recently and they featured the top ten weapons in video game history. For the most part, they were right but we made some tweaks and came up with our own. Did your favorite sword or gun make the cut? Read on to find out.
10. Masamune (Final Fantasy VII)- Always chic in black, with that flowing, silver hair and that piercing stare, Sephiroth is probably the coolest villain in all of the Final Fantasy games, but he wouldn't be the same if he didn't have his Masamune. Much like its owner, the sword is mysterious, powerful and stylish. The long blade's charm is made even more enticing due to the fact that you can acquire it in the Gold Saucer but you can never equip it. Still, it's a hell of a collectible and it looks so good, it makes watching Sephiroth slash monsters that much more entertaining.
9. The Hurly Gloves (Super Mario RPG)- Admit it- all of us, secretly or openly, have wished that Bowser one day gets a chance to knock Mario all over the place. The gloves aren't even close to being the most powerful weapon in the game, but just seeing the reptilian fiend in mid-battle pick Mario up, pull a switcharoo with a Mario doll and whack enemies with the red plumber is the highlight of the game. 8. Cerebral Bore (Turok 2: Seeds of Evil)- Warning: You might want to steer clear of spaghetti sauce and salsa after you get to use this baby. The cerebral bore is THE weapon to have in any FPS. No top weapon list would ever be complete without it. Here's how it works: Find a poor sucker whose day you really want ruined. Equip the bore. If the brain in the head of your sorry victim is large enough, a red light flashes, meaning that you've locked on and the poor mutant/dino's fate is sealed. Let loose the bore! It flies, pierces the skull, sucks out all the cranium's contents and blows up. It's just plain sick. The rest of the kick-ass weapons await after the jump! |
