CliffyB Gears of WarTick-tocking like cogs in a gear, the Gears of War movie is moving along smoothly. The film hasn't been casted yet, much less the production started on, however, we do get some promising updates at the very least. Screenwriter Chris Morgan give us a status update on New Line Cinema and Epic Games' joint project. They're already talking about budget and how potentially epic this feature length movie can get. "All the stuff you want to see, we put that in there and then we blow it out a little more, even," says he.

The last time we heard from Uwe Boll, we found out that he's actually planning an Alone In The Dark 2 movie. Now, it seems that the world is up for another helping of Uwe's unique movie-crafting skills. A new trailer for his latest work, In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, has just been spotted and is now available for your viewing pleasure in the embed below.

To be fair, the trailer actually looks promising, with very flashy editing and special effects thrown into the mix. And it seems that the movie's cast is packing some pretty serious star power here, namely Jason Statham of The Transporter series fame. The dialogue's sharp, the action looks to be well-choreographed. It's an interesting watch, to say the least. You can see for yourself in the embed below.

Uwe Boll's making sequels. - Image 1If you've been keeping track of Uwe Boll's hijinks on celluloid, you already know that Postal, his most recent game-to-movie adaptation, actually scored hits with critics who were expecting nothing else than poop on film. You also know that his next venture, "Far Cry", is already well into production.

What you probably don't know is that he's already planning to make the sequel to "Alone In The Dark", the 2005 suspense-thriller laden with so-so acting at best and unspeakable terrors at worst.

Before anything else though, it's good to note that he will not be directing the actual movie. Nope, ol' Uwe's busy in Cannes and handling sales of Far Cry and Postal.

What it bodes for the "Alone in the Dark" sequel, we're not quite sure, as he's yet to announce just who's starring in it or who's going to be in the director's chair. So it's still a toss-up on whether it's good or bad news We're putting our money on the former though, as it's always healthy to be optimistic.

Uwe Boll - Image 1It's official, and they don't seem like they're kidding: Uwe Boll's game-to-movie adaptation of Running With Scissors' controversial game isn't just funny, it's "...a damn good movie. Really."

Don't call shenanigans just yet. Todd of twitchfilm.net, the one responsible for the glowing review, states that even though the movie itself was rough, crude and very offensive on all levels, it actually had a message to deliver.

That underneath the absurdity and vulgarity of the film (elements prominently featured in the game Postal), it also had sharp, unrelenting social commentary and witty, unforgiving satire about religious extremism and politics as we know it.

The film is compared to acts that go out of their way to be offensive, such as South Park - except with much higher production values and casting - while hiding smart and biting political wit with toilet humor and violence. This, coupled with a blend of solid writing, an interesting cast, and Uwe Boll's technical skills concerning special effects and editing, as well as experience with game-to-movie adaptations - warrants Postal to be named "an unqualified success, a film that knows what it wants to be and hits all of its marks." Although Todd maintains that the movie isn't exactly for everyone to appreciate - it's as offensive as it can get  - he couldn't remember the last movie that made him laugh that hard before.

If you STILL don't believe us, you can check out the review in its entirety at the read link we've provided below.

There are several names in gaming culture that just stand out like sore thumbs. Some just love to hate the people who own those said names with the reason being that said people tend to do a lot of things that piss folks off. Take videogame to movie director Uwe Boll and his silver screen adaptations for instance.

Below is a snippet from a report on NY Post about the trailer for Mr. Boll's movie version of the Postal videogame series. It talks about a brief scene included in the trailer where an airliner crashes into a skyscraper.

"How can you parody an act of mass murder?" fumed Debra Burlingame, whose brother Charles was the pilot of American Airlines Flight 77, which was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. "Eleven-hundred families got no scrap of remains. Does that mean nothing to him? Is there any line this man wouldn't cross?"...

Boll of course, has his reasons.

"It's harsh, but in the context of the movie it definitely makes sense," Boll says of the scene showing a plane heading straight for what appears to be a World Trade Center tower... Boll said the 9/11 crash clip was being viewed out of context, and the makers of the film discussed it at length before including it in the final cut. "We did it to show the unbelievable stupidity of suicide bombers," he said.

Well, sometimes Mr. Boll does have people on his side, and to be honest, a good number of his supposedly "bad" movies do serve as decent pop-corn fun fests where the requisite to enjoy yourself is to turn off your brain.

Given that the original Postal game had little in the way of plot, and point of it was, well, "going postal" perhaps silliness such as the supposed "parody" is at home in the movie version of the game.

So what's your take on this? Are folks just being a bit too sensitive regarding the issue almost six years on, or did mister Boll decide to inform folks about the actions of suicide bombers in a wrong way?

We now wonder what he'll do with Far Cry.
