Time and again, Reality Pump's Two Worlds (PC, Xbox 360) has been compared to Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Just to set the record straight, video game publisher Zuxxez Entertainment's big boss Dirk Hassinger pointed out the differences between the two games in a recent interview with Eurogamer. According to Hassinger, Two Worlds has a "more focused, grittier experience and a lot of correlating features [in Oblivion] are deeper in Two Worlds." Hassinger also noted that Two Worlds' inventory system is "smarter" and the magic system is "more complex," and the game's storyline is "a touch darker and more involved." But what really sets the title apart according to Hassinger is Two Worlds' MMO-style multiplayer mode. Here's what he revealed about it: The multiplayer mode is going to be really special, both on PC and 360. We're going to implement two distinct modes. One will involve a hub area where players can form teams, chat, trade and set off on instanced mini-quests. The other mode will be a straight PvP arena, although we're overflowing with ideas on how to innovate the competitive side of things. Horse races, complete with an in-game gambling system for observers, are something we've already mentioned, but the rest will have to stay under our hats for now. No one's ever tried to bring the free-roaming, single-player RPG together with a fully-featured multiplayer mode before, although that's more pioneering through ambition than through innovation. Which is better, then? There's only one way to know for sure. Check out Two Worlds when it hits the U.S. on July 17. German gamers have already gotten their hands on the PC version, and UK/EU release is slated for August 3. Australian gamers will get this title on August 9. |

This is going to be short, but it sure as hell won't be sweet. Gamers in Europe will have to wait a few weeks longer than originally planned to start exploring the world of Antaloor in Two Worlds. Apparently, a few balancing issues are still being tweaked. Multiplayer options are also in the process of being further perfected, resulting in the game's release being moved to May 9. "It's the atmosphere of a game that really suffers if the balancing isn't quite perfect or if annoying bugs make life difficult - especially in the RPG sector," said Alexandra Constandache, CEO of Zuxxez Entertainment AG, the company producing Two Worlds. "We're fortunate enough to be in a position where we ourselves can determine when our game will be marketed - and we have taken the decision to postpone its release for a short time." Two Worlds will be released at the beginning of May for PC and Xbox 360 in English, French and German localisation. |

I don't know when, I don't know how, but I know something's starting right now. Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be, part of Two Worlds. (Seems like someone just opened up a can of Mermaid and busted out a Disney tune.) Embarrassment aside, you guys might be bursting out in song when you hear the latest from SouthPeak. The countdown is set and the release date is now confirmed. Come March 7 of next year, Two Worlds will be available for the 360 and PC. That's still months away, but safe to say, we're assured that the wait will be well worth it. The developers are making sure that the game is going to live up to its hype. Zuxxez Vice President for business Dirk Hassinger said: "We decided to give the developers more time for even more enhancements and fine-tuning – perfecting perfection! We're fully confident that our game will capture the imaginations of every RPG fan the world over." Imaginations running wild, if this fantasy game plays like what it's promising, we're sure that there's going to be more room for not just merfolk in the future. We're talking massive-scale RPG here (duh, it's an MMORPG) that includes wyverns and giant mantises, orcs and goblins, demons and feral wolves. Dubbed as the "Oblivion killer," only time will tell if they would succeed. |
